Memore della brillante sfida dell'andata, il Baffo schiera i suoi con una formazione speculare a quella che gli garantì il successo pochi mesi fa: Isy a fare l'ariete di sfondamento in mezzo all'attacco, supportato sulle fasce dal rientrante Zaghetto e dal Vecchio. E' Occhi a dargli man forte contro la muscolosa difesa dei padovani, vuoi per il leggero infortunio patito da Pato Cavallo, vuoi per il rapimento da parte degli alieni di Ercole. Pare che i marziani ne stiano studiando il leggendario corpo per riprodurre un eroe tutto loro e sfornare il primo, grande romanzo epico della letteratura del pianeta rosso.

A centrocampo Tino fa coppia con Salvo, mentre la retroguardia è la collaudatissima Trivella-Pinton-Elaborato-Cugino, con Beccò a difendere la porta. In panchina si accomodano Oscar, Rubinho, Camacho, Vablo triste come non mai stante il concomitante anniversario delle Faulkland, Zane, e direttamente dalla pampa, il Magassiniero.

Il match, manco a dirlo, è subito nervosissimo: nonostante tra le fila degli ospiti non ci sia Zucca Pelata, l'attacante più rompimarroni dell'intera terza categoria veneta, e non è certo cosa di cui andare fieri!, la squadra ospita non manca di schierare in campo giocatori altrettanto fastidiosi, irritanti e stracciaca**i. I loro interventi sono spesso un po' troppo al di là del consentito, le loro lamentele continue, le mani e i gomiti sempre un po' troppo alti. L'arbitro ci mette un po' a capire che è il caso di placare gli animi e sanzionare questi interventi "scomposti", e manco a dirlo incorre nelle ire dei giocatori stessi, in parte meritate, in parte del tutto ingiustificate. Certo il loro stile di gioco ha i suoi frutti perchè i giallorossi, ieri in rosanero, si fanno prendere dal nervosismo e per tutta la prima parte di gara sono più intenti ad attaccar briga che a giocare a pallone. E nonostante il gioco degli avversari non sia dei più eccelsi - spesso infatti si dedicano al collaudato palla lunga e pedalare, e anche peladare - da i suoi frutti se è vero che procura loro almeno tre chiare occasioni da gol di cui una si infrange sul palo dopo la deviazione di Bellò mentre un'altra gonfia la rete alle sue spalle, merito del veloce Diego che riprende una corta respinta della difesa, calcia di controbalzo senza pensarci troppo e insacca di prepotenza, andando poi a sfondare la rete che lo divide dai furibondi tifosi di casa, capeggiati da uno scatenato Noventa, pronto a lanciargli il testa la gabbia dei palloni.

L'unica nota positiva del gol è che il Perarolo pare risvegliarsi improvvisamente da un lungo e piacevole sonno, e comincia a macinare un po' di gioco, coinvolgendo anche i suoi giocatori di maggior classe, fino a quel momento latitanti: Teschio, Isy, Salvo confezionano solo qualche buona azione, non proprio delle chiare occasioni da gol, ma è un segnale positivo che fa aizzare il pubblico e sospinge tutto il Frazionale assieme ai suoi 11 eroi. E' proprio allo scadere della prima frazione che i padroni di casa hanno la prima palla gol, su svarione della difesa avversaria, ma Isy non riesce a trovare la forza giusta per indirizzare la palla nella porta dopo lo svarione del poco attento portiere avversario.

In spogliatoio i ragazzi cercano di mettere in ordine le idee, convincendo i più riottosi a placare gli animi nei confronti della casacca nera, ieri in giallo fosforescente, e predicando di tornare al loro tradizionale tipo di gioco: palla a terra, e spinta sulle fasce. Gran parte del successo di questo piano dipenderà da Zaghetto, che nel primo tempo ha solo subito le spinte del dirimpettaio e altrettanto veloce numero 7, e del Vecchio, che dovrebbe avere la meglio contro un avversario chiaramente più scarso di lui. Qualunque sia la formula magica, andrebbe adottata più spesso se è vero come è vero che Tino e compagni partono con un piglio decisamente più convinto nella seconda ripresa e prendono in mano le operazioni con autorità e convinzione, collezionando palle gol e cartellini per gli avversari. Uno di questi si dimostrerà davvero importante quando al 20° circa il neo-entrato Oscare fa andare via di testa Barbetta, brutto da vedere ma vero uomo squadra e faro del centrocampo del mortise, che viene cacciato per doppia ammonizione. A quel punto i rosanero, assistiti in tribuna anche dallo sponsor Sig.rina Lara Diaz e dallo sponsor tecnico Luigi Asics, prendono ancor più coraggio e sfondano a testa bassa fino a quando proprio dalla fascia di competenza di Zaghetto arriva un cross invitante che Isy manca ma sul quale irrompe come un ariete l'onnipresente Jack Pinton, smarcatosi senza motivo in attacco - a meno che non ci fosse una forma di scarpe da leccare - che insacca di cattiveria! Raggiunta la parità, i padroni di casa non si accontentano e si procurano almeno due buone occasioni che tuttavia il neoentrato Pato non sfrutta a dovere, peccando di altruismo. Poi improvvisamente la partita si sposta sul fronte d'attacco del Mortise: 3 punizioni di fila da posizione minacciosa mettono i brividi sulla schiena di Beccò, che poi deve fatalmente capitolare dopo un errore di vera e propria dabbenaggine da parte dei suoi stessi difensori che involontariamente imbeccano l'ex D'Incalci che gode come un capretto quando trafigge il numero 1 di via Diaz.

E' solo la promessa da parte dei tifosi di bruciar loro le auto che sospinge i ragazzi del Baffo in attacco, ed è senz'altro la buona disposizione dell'arbitro che consente loro di avere un rigore per fallo di mano che non tutti, sinceramente, avrebbero fischiato. Non che la decisione sia scandalosa, tutt'altro, ma è certamente stata aiutata dalle troppe provocazioni e minacce che il pover'uomo ha dovuto subire durante tutto il match. Poco importa: Zaghetto si sistema sul dischetto e insacca di prepotenza per il 2 a 2 definitivo, che potrebbe essere rimesso in discussione dall'ultima mischia che si svolge nell'area rosanero, allorquando gli ospiti reclamo un rigore per un analogo fallo di mano, ma l'arbitro, secondo la versione riportata da Capitan Tino, agisce correttamente e decide di chiudere li un match preso per i capelli dai giallorossi e che mantiene ancora viva in loro la speranza di qualificarsi per i playoff.
